The Resource Group | Midwest has long been working with collaborative tools to maximize our team’s productivity. Because of the pandemic, many of these tools proved useless when forced to sequester in our homes. Thrust into a reset and determined to focus our collaborative efforts, we decided to reassess our existing practices and our opportunities. We discovered that we could make physical distance less of a barrier and actually improve how we work together, even in person.

We initiated a daily practice of The Resource Group | Midwest Morning Meeting. With persistent refining, these meetings presented three themes:

  • Reinforce goals and objectives
  • Specify immediate priorities
  • Accelerate progress sharing exercises

These regular gatherings taught us that collaboration is more than simply working together. We recognized the need to reevaluate our procedures and find opportunities, despite the crisis. Slowly, we began to shift our focus from completing tasks to improving our processes and boosting productivity. Even seemingly small changes have offered substantial improvements.

The pandemic may have forced us to change how we work, but nothing can diminish the importance of productive collaboration.
